Foreign Exchange Market Trends (2009)

1. Exchange Rates

□ At the end of 2009, the USD/KRW exchange rate stood at

1,164.5 won per dollar, down 95.0 won (an appreciation of 8.2%)

from the previous year (1,259.5 won).

  o The average USD/KRW rate during the year, however, was 1,276.3 won, up 172.9 won (a depreciation of 13.6%) from 2008 (1,103.4 won).

□ At the end of 2009, the JPY/KRW rate stood at 1,264.7 won per 100 yen, a decline of 131.6 won (an appreciation of 10.4%) from the previous year (1,396.3 won).

o The average JPY/KRW rate during 2009 recorded 1,364.0 won, however, up 286.7 won (a depreciation of 21.0%) from the year before (1,077.3 won).
